You've been scolded by your teacher haven't you?
I've had this thing I like to call 'the Handwriting Complex'. I never thought my handwriting was good enough, it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst either but my mind nagged at me to improve.
I've seen a lot, I mean a LOT of students get scolded for illegible handwriting and thus I decided I might as well help.
I made it my new year's resolution to improve my handwriting and took it upon myself to keep working till I achieved satisfactory results.
I used to have a rather small, cursive handwriting and was always scolded for writing in small text, which made it difficult for many people to read.
I decided to switch to a larger, more print like version, not orthodox print handwriting but something that says"me".
Here's what I did(but better):
Step-1:Decide what type of handwriting you want.
There are mainly 2 types; cursive and print. Once you pick between the two you can explore other subcategories.
Remember, it's a slow process. Pick a font that is similar to yours but better and slowly switch your handwriting.
Step-3: Pull up some handwriting references on pinterest or google.
Here's a link to the Studentize pinterest board for reference- https://in.pinterest.com/studentize/handwriting/
Step-4: This is an important step that is often overlooked.
You need to find a pen that is suitable handwriting and speed.
If you write fast and use a fountain pen, well smudges are inevitable. To avoid that, refer to our list below, our above linked board has more on the same.
Cursive handwriting-Fountain Pen,rollerball pen
D’Nealian handwriting(a mix of print and cursive)-Rollerball Pen
Print handwriting- Gel pen
Small handwriting- Gel pen
Large Handwriting- Ballpoint pen
Left-handed writers-Fast drying gel pen
Slow writers-Ballpoint pen
Fast writers-Gel pen
Step-5: Keep some time aside everyday to write.
PRACTICE,PRACTICE,PRACTICE!
Consistency is key, if you don't practice regularly then you're not going to improve.
If you stick to a consistent schedule and practice regularly, your handwriting is going to be better than ever! Don't forget to tag us on your handwriting journey on instagram @studentize_
