HOW TO STUDY WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT

Let’s be honest, we have all faced this problem before. A long tiring school day just makes you want to sleep right? Who cares about the pile of work, we will just do it later! That’s what we all think, don’t we? Well, what’s the solution then? Here are some tips that help us keep going;
· The first thing you should do is to reduce your resistance to studying. Doing small tasks, makes it easier for you to get into the flow. You can set out for study materials ahead of time, reduce the study session length or any task that gets you started. Pick any task that helps you build momentum.
· Start by setting a timer of let’s say 10 seconds and when the timer is off, start with your work. This helps you mentally get into the mindset of studying. When the timer goes off pretend it’s a race and sprit right to studying.
· Start with small tasks. We all have ab huge list of work to do but don’t get overwhelmed by it and start procrastinating. Instead start small. Divide your tasks into small chunks and tackle one at a time. For example, if you have a big essay to write then start by doing background research, then making an outline after which go back to finishing the main article. This helps you build momentum to reach your goal.
· Focus on your goals and dreams, remind yourself why you are here and focus on the big picture. Look at your journal or motivation board and think to yourself why you are doing this, why you need to do this and jump right into it. A positive mindset will make you sharper and more focused in your work giving you the right motivation.
· Keep rewarding yourself for completing tasks. If you are feeling down, then try studying with a friend, going for a coffee run, to your favourite place to study. Doing small things that make you happy boost your mood. Fill your schedule with things to look forward too after a busy study time!
Remember that it also important to take study breaks! Your body cannot work forever. Know when you are procrastinating, and try your best to overcome it. Remember life is about balance, plan it right and you will succeed!
